Carnival in Devizes is an exciting mix of traditional and contemporary carnival styles and the biggest outdoor community event in the town's calendar. We support groups to take part in the carnival by providing costume making and dance workshops led by professional carnival artists, resulting in some incredible large-scale costumes and puppets being made and paraded on the day! In 2012 Devizes Carnival celebrated its centenary anniversary and we are looking forward to supporting it towards its 200th anniversary!
The Carnival procession this year took place on Saturday 31st August. Check out the parade route and here...
Some of you are having a go at the Carnival Crossword in the programme and have noted that Clue 8 down is missing! Apologies - here it is...'Celebrate at the turn of this?' (4)
Walking Wiltshire's White Horses
The Walking Wiltshire's White Horses project consisted of 3 months of creative and outdoors activity in and around 100 miles of stunning Wiltshire landscape and 8 white horses. Participants walked the white horses and worked with artists Ali Pretty and Richard White to document their journeys, gathering sounds and images along the way.
Ali and Richard were in residence at the Wiltshire Museum creating an immersive installation wich ran thoughout August. The 100 mile walkers were welcomed in to Devizes Market Place as part of the International Street Festival on Monday 26th August!
